Hello families,
Although his week has been a short one, it was still jam packed with fun and excitement.
We hope that everyone is looking forward to ANZAC Day and a nice long weekend. Enjoy and we will see you next week.
World Earth Day…
On Tuesday the children engaged in some fun activities centred around ‘World Earth Day’. The children learnt all about the way in which we can create a more sustainable world and nurture life in our own centre. The older children spent time in our choklits garden planting a number of different vegetables and herbs which we will use in our cooking classes once they are all ready for eating.
Easter Parade at Our Lady of the Pines…
On Thursday the kinder children were invited down to our local primary school ‘Our Lady of the Pines’ where they joined in the Easter festivities. This included a presentation of the children’s hats that they have been creating over the past week. Our little kinders were invited to walk around to all of the age groups and showcase their hats. It was amazing to see the children’s wonderful work on display. One of our Kinder’s got up and accepted a certificate from the Primary School for the children’s bravery. To see our journey, check out our social posts from this week.
Sustainable Development Research Initiative…
Our current goal for April led us to new ways of looking at all different types of ‘life on land’. Not only did we research wildlife and different species of animals. We also took time on World Earth Day to talk and learn about plant life. We learnt ways of planting, watering and nurturing life in the garden beds around our Choklits service. We will continue to fins new ways of contributing to this research goal and where we end up at the end of the month. To stay up to date with our progress, please visit our display wall in the hallway or on our socials for more photos and videos.
The Life on Land goal, part of the Sustainable Development Goals, aims to protect, restore, and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems. It focuses on preventing deforestation, conserving biodiversity, combating desertification, and ensuring the sustainable management of forests and natural habitats to support all life on Earth.
Here are some key areas that make the foundation of this focus:
- Promoting Green Spaces and Biodiversity
- Teaching Environmental Responsibility
- Reducing Environmental Impact
- Engaging with Families and the Community
Educator spotlight…
This week, we would like to acknowledge and sadly say goodbye to one of our educators in the Nursery room.
Atena has exceeded all expectations and excelled in creating a nurturing, warm environment. From the moment Atena joined us at Choklits, she created strong bonds with our nursery children. It will be sad to see Atena leave our team and we hope there are great things in store for her future
Thank you for the care and love that you provided to our little ones. We will miss you so much.
On a happier note we would like to welcome Chai to our Choklits team. Chai has had years of experience working with children and has already done some great work with the Kinder children through her placement with us. If you see Chai around, introduce yourself and I’m sure she will be happy to give you a wave and a hello. Welcome to the team Chai. We can’t wait to see how you will develop over your time here at Choklits.
ANZAC Day…
As we are coming to the end of April next week, we will reflect on ANZAC Day with some activities in the community. On Monday the 28th of April, the Kinder children will head down to our local park to finish off their ANZAC experiences together. These activities will teach the children about the significance of this day and why we reflect together. We will be posting our amazing work through our socials and updates on Kinder M8 news feeds.
