Annual Letter, 2021
Hello Choklits Community,
As 2021 draws to a close I hope you and your family are enjoying each other’s company and are super excited for a fantastic 2022!
Thank you all for your continued support this year, your understanding through the ups and downs and for trusting us with your children. Their infectious energy and the love they have for learning makes coming to Choklits the best part of my day.
This year has been another interesting one and I’m very proud of the way the Choklits Team has supported each other through each and every day. We decided very early on that we would make the most of whatever came our way in 2021. We wanted to extend ourselves, add more to our programs and deliver more than we ever had before.
Knowing the care, time, effort and love that the Choklits educators have put into developing and delivering our programs right across the centre really makes me smile.
My biggest takeaways from 2021 are the importance of community and communication. Life can throw curve balls at us when we least expect (or want) them and there’s nothing we can do about that. What we can control, as hard as it can seem at the time, are our responses. I’ve found that when I respond well it’s because I have the support of the people around me and I have made a concentrated effort to communicate with them as best I can.
Our community at Choklits is very special and I feel special knowing we all have each other. It might be the friend you have found in another Choklits parent, the “best friend” your child talks about constantly, a milestone your child has reached or the adventure you take will a fellow Choklits educator, our community means something different to all of us. My hope is, when you think of Choklits, you feel special too.
We truly have a fantastic team of educators here at Choklits and they never faulted through 2021. In fact, they really have achieved quite a bit.
- Helen passed 10 years service at Choklits, Tracey 16 years and Sue 25.
- Junie, Ned, Merinda and Chan Ming, the Chokliteers, were back and shared with us their adventures in the Choklits Gardens. See all they get up to here.
- Our leadership team spent and entire week offsite (picture below) to plan and revamp our philosophy, you’ll find it here.
- Our kindergarten class put together a fabulous colouring book which looks amazing, can’t wait to see those pages coloured in when our graduates come back and visit us in their school uniforms (don’t forget us!). You’ll find an explanation of the book by Elena here.
- Our first mini-series went live on our social channels, watch Tracey’s Caravan Adventure here.
- We completed our RAP, which has now been certified, you can read more about it here.
- Three of our educators completed further formal levels of early childhood qualifications, and six started new ones.
- We launched Choklits Activate, an interactive and age specific physical education program for all our children, read about it here.
- We shot our first culture video featuring many of our super talented educators and children, watch it here.
- Our summer giveaway was by far our biggest ever, watch the draw and find out who the lucky winner was here.
- We had 2,860 hours of fun playing and learning (but it seemed like way more than that!).
Anyway, I’m super excited about 2022!!
We’ve set some huge goals that are already beginning to come together. 2022 is set to be the most exciting and biggest ever for us at Choklits and our extended community. The huge addition to our kindergarten program being one which we look forward to sharing everything with you asap, but it still has to remain top secret for now.
